PALTOWN Leadership Summit 2021
San Diego, December 10-12

We vaccinated, we rapid tested, we masked up for the plane, and we put on flannel shirts and scarves…but most of all we showed up!
(and yes, we used the fire pit…it was cold!)

The Leadership Summit brought together PALTOWN staff and board members, the COLONTOWN management team, our science and clinical trials education teams, COLONTOWN Community Leaders, and our Empowered Patient Leader training team for a weekend of connection and planning.
Many of us had never met in person due to covid, so it was an emotional and important team-building exercise. We also reviewed all PALTOWN’s programs in depth, had breakout sessions on everything from fundraising to clinical trials programs, and spent time thinking about what we’d like 2022 to look like.
We began with some homework: the results of a pre-meeting survey about our mission, our programs, and how well we are executing on both fronts.

We then took a look at our major programs: COLONTOWN, EPL, science education, and clinical trials programs.

Over the course of the next 24 hours, we discussed everything PALTOWN does for patients and caregivers.
Our focus: how can we better serve our current members, and how can we grow the impact of our programs in 2022?

In addition to all the structured work, we had the chance to have conversations with each other. So many conversations! As a virtual organization, creating the space for these connections is so important to our success.
We have a lot of homework, a 70 page report, a follow up Zoom workshop planned, and so much hope for 2022!
Many thanks to Kriss Wittmann for her beautiful illustrations and all the photos.
