Megan Schirmacher brings a blend of marketing expertise, nonprofit leadership, and community engagement to her role as Marketing and Outreach Coordinator at PALTOWN. Her connection to PALTOWN’s mission is deeply personal; her sister, Kathy, was diagnosed with colon cancer at age 32 and passed 5 years later. This loss reshaped Megan’s priorities, altered her professional trajectory, and set her on a decades-long path driving advocacy to effect meaningful change in times of critical need.
In addition to PALTOWN, Megan concurrently serves as Program Director for Savvy Giving by Design, a nonprofit that renovates residential spaces for children facing medical crises at no cost to the family. She was also the guiding force behind the creation of a community-wide 5K/10K (an event she led for 7 years), raising over $100,000 to purchase educational technology for a Title 1 elementary school—helping bridge the resource gap for thousands of children.
She holds a B.A. in History from Yale University and a professional certificate in photography from UCSD. Based in San Diego, she and her husband take pride in having launched three compassionate and accomplished daughters into thriving adult lives. But actually enjoy it most when they come back home.
