In Memory of Annicka Campbell-Dollaghan

Annicka Campbell-Dollaghan and husband Jef

Annicka Lin Campbell-Dollaghan
9/17/85-6/11/23

Annicka Lin Campbell-Dollaghan was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, preceding her twin sister Kelsey into the outside world by 45 seconds.  The two were inseparable throughout their childhood in Pittsburgh, where their literary, artistic, musical and athletic talents flowered and their love of family, friends, animals and travel was always on full display.

Annicka Campbell-Dollaghan

Anni lived in Chicago for many years, where she built a career as a researcher and data analyst and became an avid cyclist, spinning through the city streets with her friends and standing atop many podiums as a fearless on- and off-road racer.  She met the love of her life, Jef Mayer, and together they laughed, cycled, cooked, worked, traveled, and cared for their first (of three) adopted greyhounds, marrying on a glorious Chicago evening in 2019.

In July 2020 Annicka and Jef moved to the foot of Mount Lemmon in Tucson, Arizona, where they took full advantage of the cycling, hiking, and running trails that surrounded them – and continued to do so even after Annicka’s diagnosis. Anni’s joyful spirit, astonishing positivity, and raw strength rarely flagged during the intensive treatments that followed, and she managed to continue working, writing, traveling and cycling almost to the end of her life, with her many dear friends, co-workers and family cheering her on.

Annicka joined the Colontown community soon after her diagnosis in August, 2021. She and her family were grateful for the information they found there, and Anni appreciated the opportunity to support others in the community as a volunteer peer counselor. Anni asked that contributions in her memory be directed here, and we are happy to comply.  We all miss her dearly, but her laughter, kindness, and delight in the world will always be in our hearts.
