Colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer in the United States. I never imagined it would be a part of our family’s story. In December of 2021 Damon was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer with metastasis to the liver. We immediately dove into understanding, treating and destroying this terrible disease.
Over the three years of Damon’s treatment we built an incredible village through the help of an organization called COLONTOWN. COLONTOWN is supported by PALTOWN Development Foundation, a 501(c)3 corporation. PALTOWN is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering patients and care partners by creating disease specific communities to address information needs and social isolation through training, technology and developing purpose-driven community leadership.
Rochester, New York, home of the University of Rochester Medical Center Transplant Program, is leading the way for new and innovative care for colorectal cancer patients. Damon and I had hoped to one day receive a life-saving liver transplant. Sadly, Damon passed on July 31, 2024 after the most admirable battle, filled with courage, strength and unwavering positivity.
As a family we want to share his fighting spirit with cancer patients receiving the life changing surgery in our hometown. The Damon Anthony Caputo Project will welcome fellow warriors and their caregivers to Rochester with a swag bag filled with comfort items and messages of hope and solidarity. Damon connected and mentored many cancer patients throughout his battle. Your donations and support will continue his efforts in lifting up those who never thought they would need it. We are thrilled to launch his legacy project and thank you for your continued love and support.

All proceeds from the wreath sales and donations will go directly to COLONTOWN and the Damon Anthony Caputo Project. Our kick-off effort is the Welcome Swag Bag. On behalf of Damon, we will raise colorectal cancer awareness and the funds needed to support the warriors and their families fighting this awful disease. Sharing his story of courage, positivity and hope will continue his legacy of helping others during the most difficult of times.
